What To Wear In Napa Valley

What to wear in Napa Valley? Is that what you are asking yourself? You have finally booked the dream vacation that has been on your bucket list for years. Now it is time to think about what to wear??? That is always a big question when I am packing for vacation. Have you ever watched a movie and there is always one girl who is totally dressed wrong? Well, that is me. I actually wore heels to a motorcycle hill climb once!! Yes, really. I had no idea what a hill climb was or how to dress for it. And, my first date with this guy who owned a motorcycle asked me if I wanted to go to a Hill Climb. I thought it was a party so I thought I dressed appropriately. Did I ever get laughed at! I am a good sport and ended up taking my shoes off and going barefoot most of the day!! So you see my concern about finding the appropriate clothing for my vacation destination.

Layers Are A Must To Wear in Napa Valley

According to what I have been reading, Layering is a must to wear in Napa Valley. Temperatures vary and in the evening the cooler air comes in from the Bay so you might need a sweater for the evening. As far as footwear is concerned, consider the amount of walking you will be doing. Flats or wedges are your best bet, and boots for fall and winter. You will be doing a lot of walking outdoors so you want to be safe and comfortable.

As far as a purse or handbag is concerned you should consider a light crossbody bag with just the essentials. Don’t forget your ID. Some of the wineries do require and ID before they will allow you to take part in a wine tasting. If you do not have an ID you will have a wonderful day watching everyone else taste the fabulous Napa Valley wines.

Don’t forget some cash, credit cards, lip gloss and your cell phone. Leave the rest in the car or at the hotel. You don’t want to sit your purse on the ground, in the dirt or worse yet in some spilled wine.

Do You Plan On Going Out ?

You will want to also pack one nice outfit if you are planning on eating at one of the Napa Valley upscale restaurants. They are a little more elegant than the wineries and do require a little more dressy outfits. Same goes for the many rooftop bars.

Make sure that you plan on visiting the Vineyards gift shop. I love gift shops. I can’t visit a hospital, vineyard or any Venue without going to the gift shop. Hence the need for a credit card in your crossbody bag.

Sunglasses and a sunhat are also very necessary. My Dad always insisted that I wear sunglasses when I go out even if the sun is not out to prevent what he called eye wrinkles. And finally, you should not wear perfume or scented lotions. Why? you ask. Fragrance can interfere with your sense of smell and affect your ability to fully enjoy the flavor of the wine. It could also affect the experience of those around you also. So be a good wine tasting buddy and forgo the fragrance for the day.
