Dream Bigger

Dream Bigger!! What does that mean? Most people I know dream according to their upbringing. We don’t dream big. We dream within our means. I want to dream bigger. And I have always dreamed of living in a big house with a maid. I have had cleaning ladies come in twice a month. I have had a four-bedroom, three-bath house. But I want a big house with a maid who comes in once a week.

One of my friends did that. She worked for a family who had her come in 3 times a week to cook, clean, and do laundry for a family of four. She loved doing it. They sometimes had her come in for parties to cook and clean up after them. They treated her very well with bonuses at Christmas and on her birthday, and for every holiday, she got a special gift from them. I want to do that. I want to have parties and have them catered and have my whole family come and stay overnight (thus the big house)

My biggest dream for the new year is to be able to buy a new car. I sold my car a couple of years ago to invest, and my husband sold his truck this past year, so we are down to one car. Having one car is very inconvenient. So, I would like to buy a new car and pay in cash.

To Dream Bigger is a Relative Term

dream bigger

Dreaming bigger is a relative term. Maybe it just refers to being a little higher or larger than where I am right now. Maybe??? Could my goals and vision for my future be bigger and brighter if I dreamed bigger? Maybe I want a new car. That Mustang Convertible on my vision board would make me happy. But giving that new car to my sister, not a Mustang Convertible, would not be practical for her. But giving her a new car would make me even happier. My why has always been my younger sister. Yes, I have daughters who are very successful, and when they were younger, I helped them financially. They are very well off now and don’t need help. If they did, I would help them. Who am I kidding? I would definitely help them out. That’s what a mother does, right?

You see, my sister is a saint! She raised her two kids as a single mom without their father’s help. And now, she is raising her four grandchildren. She has been working two jobs to give those four kids a good life because their father (her son) and their mother abandoned them. They said it was too hard to raise kids, so they left them and did not come back.

I dream of paying off her house and building her a bigger house. Yes, with a maid who comes in every day.

To Dream Bigger Requires Some Changes to Your Mindset

I think when you think about dreaming bigger, most people don’t have the confidence to feel they deserve to do so. Therefore, they need to change their mindset. To dream big, you have to believe in yourself. Believe in your self-worth, have self-confidence, and develop some self-esteem. You can be whatever you believe you can be, and you should continue to tell yourself that.

After a hard day at school, one of my friend’s mothers told me when I was 15 years old; some mean girls were picking on me. Remember, you are as good as the best and better than the rest. I have played that over in my head for over 50 years. Do you know how people say that you never know how your words can change someone’s life? That lady’s words changed my life. You have to know your worth, and you must act on it. Dream Bigger!!!

You Must Overcome That Constant Fear of Failure

So what if you dream bigger but don’t accomplish your dream? You don’t have a time limit on your dream, do you? How are you going to grow if you don’t fail? Stephen King had his first book, Carrie, rejected 30 times.

“I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions, I have been entrusted to take the game-winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” Michael Jordan

The only way you fail is if you quit!!

To Dream Bigger Requires An Imagination

I have an imagination. Therefore, I can dream bigger. I can imagine how I would feel if I could pay off my sister’s or my two daughters’ houses. Also, I can imagine how great it would be to take my family on vacation and pay for the whole thing. We love going all together and doing things together, big family meals. I adore my family, and the more time we can spend together without worrying about who will pay the bill, the better.
