Not all wines need to be aerated.

What does Aerating mean? To Aerate wine simply means to expose the wine to air or give it a chance to “breathe” before drinking it.

So Which Wines Should I Aerate? And Why?

Generally, white wines don’t benefit from aeration. Before aerating a white wine you might want to taste it to see if it might benefit from aerating. It is the reds that benefit the most from aeration. Earthy-flavored reds that have been aged. Fine wines that you want to enhance the flavors and to get the full experience of the flavor explosion. Those are the ones you want to aerate.

Ok, How Do I Aerate Wine

When you uncork a bottle of wine, there is very little interaction with air through the narrow neck of the bottle and the liquid inside. You could wait 30 minutes to an hour for the wine to breathe on its own, but why wait when aeration can speed up the process so you don’t have to wait to drink that delicious bottle of fine wine.

There are two ways to aerate wine. The first and fastest and this is the easiest, attach an aerator to the wine bottle. This will aerate the wine as you pour it into your glass. An example of an aerator is here. The second way is to use a wine decanter, but again you are back to waiting for the wine to aerate for a bit. But I have to admit decanters a beautiful.

Some additional wine accessories you will find here are Wine Openers, as I mentioned earlier as well as wine stoppers. I think that is an oxymoron. I have never had on occasion to use a wine stopper. Who wants to stop wine??? Just kidding!. You will also find the gift sets here. And to my amazement, they are all reasonably priced.
