Christmas Cookie Recipes

My favorite Christmas Cookie Recipes are my favorite things to write about. I am sure there are more than I have listed here that are my favorite. Thumbprint Cookies, Candy Cane Cookies, Sugar Cookies, you can do so much with just one simple recipe. I have book after book of Christmas Cookie recipes. I want to share some of them with you here.

Decorating cookies with my girls was one of my fondest Christmas memories. Getting the sprinkles all over the kitchen and making the Candy Canes Cookies look like Candy Canes was a big challenge for little fingers but it was fun.

In writing this article I wanted to get some favorite recipes from friends, family, and colleagues so I sent a message out to FaceBook and asked for some contributions. I am not sure how many or what kind of recipes I will get but I am excited to see what happens. So check back often to see who comes forward and shares Christmas Cookie Recipes. I promise to give credit to everyone who submits a recipe and I will post every recipe I receive. I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Now for the recipes so that you can have fun with my favorite Christmas Cookie recipes. And the favorite of those who have contributed their favorite Christmas cookie recipes:

Christmas Cookie Recipes

December 1: Thumbprint Cookies:

Thumbprint cookies are hands down my favorite cookie to make any time of the year. You can do so much with them. A Hershey kiss can be used to fill the thumbprint, red or green frosting, caramels, green mint jam, really any sweet thing you can think of to fill the thumbprint can be used. So use your imagination. And happy cookie baking!!!

December 2: CandyCane Cookies:

Christmas Cookie Recipes

December 2nd is my Sister’s birthday so I am dedicating the Candy Cane Cookies recipe for today to her. I believe my sister is an Angel. She is selflessly raising her four Grandchildren. She is giving them the best love and care and the best life that she can. For that, I admire her beyond words. Happy Birthday, Mary!!! I love you, little Sister!!! And, I hope you enjoy making these cookies with the kids as much as I did making them with the girls. I hope yours turn out better than when Joe and Amy helped me with them!!! The cookies were deformed but we had so many laughs making them.

“I can hear it now…. OH NO, not another Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe !!! In all my 20 years at the age of 39, I have not found a better Chocolate Chip Cookie.

I do not know why this recipe is so much better than any other chocolate chip recipe it just is.  And, I have tried many, many different recipes. Actually, this is a combination of several recipes I liked.”

December 8: My Famous Brownies For National Brownie Day

Christmas Cookie Recipes

Today, December 8, according to my calendar is National Brownie Day! So today instead of a cookie recipe for the 25 days of Christmas Cookie Recipes I am going to share my famous brownie recipe. Why is it famous you ask? Because that is what my Grandson called it when he was little and he wanted brownies. Then, he would ask me to make my famous brownies.

December 9: White Chocolate-Cherry Shortbread Cookies

Christmas Cookie Recipes

White Chocolate-Cherry Shortbread: This is a basic shortbread recipe and requires nothing more than butter, flour, and sugar. However, this version of the classic cookie recipe is dressed up with the addition of maraschino cherries and a dip in melted white chocolate. How wonderful does that sound?? I can’t wait to taste these little gems!! This is a great Christmas Cookie recipe from the Better Home and Gardens website.

December 10: Peppermint Cream Bites

Christmas Cookie Recipes

Peppermint Cream Bites: These chocolate and mint layered dessert bars are cut into shapes after the crust is baked and the toppings are chilled. Choose circles, squares, or maybe even stars! Use the remaining crumbs from the cutouts to sprinkle over ice cream. Yummy!! (This is another recipe from Better Homes and Gardens)

December 11: Cherry Dream Bars with Pineapple & Coconut

Cherry Dream Bars

Cherry Dream Bars with Pineapple & Coconut. I think Evey is as much a Christmas Cookie fan as I am. She has submitted another great cookie recipe. However, this Cherry Dream Bar recipe has an added surprise! She has added pineapple and coconut to her recipe!!”This is one of my family’s Christmas Cookie ‘Musts’,  What is not to like with Cherry, Coconut & Pineapple.” I agree Evey! I love cherries, pineapple, and coconut so I don’t know how these cookies could not be delicious and a fan favorite.

December 12: Gingerbread Cutouts

Gingerbread Cutouts

Gingerbread Cutouts: These have always been something that I have wanted to try but have shied away from because I thought they were too complicated for me. I see the people in the Hallmark movies making them and decorating them. While having these heart-to-heart conversations and bringing loved ones back together. It usually makes me cry. And I think why have I never done that. Well, Here is a recipe from Better Homes and Gardens that does not look all that complicated and I have included the recipes for Powdered Sugar Icing and Royal Icing too

Peanut butter snickers Cookies

December 13: Peanut Butter Snickers Cookies

Peanut Butter Snickers Cookies, This recipe is famously made every year by my friend Karen Riley. Her family has a cookie baking day and they make tray after tray of cookies. Looks like so much fun. This recipe sounds like it would be a family favorite year after year. Peanut butter and snickers, how could you go wrong with that combination?

Wine Cookies

December 14: Wine Cookies

Wine cookies! What could be more appropriate for me! Since I love wine, I sell Wine of the Month Club memberships. I should dedicate the cookie for my birthday to my passion!! WINE!! When looking for this recipe I found that Wine Cookies originated in Italy, Spain and I think one recipe was from France. This Italian Wine Cookie recipe is said to have been handed down through many generations. This cookie is crisp, not-too-sweet, and is great with coffee or tea.

Buckeyes

December 15: Buckeyes

I have always thought of Buckeyes as candy rather than a cookie but Allrecipes has listed them as Buckeye cookies. If you are from Ohio, I am sure you have either had a Buckeye or made Buckeyes. This one makes a great sleepover event if you have kids who like to cook. Hint double the recipe because there will be eating of the Buckeyes while you bake.

December 16: Snickerdoodle Cookies

snickerdoodle cookies

Snickerdoodle Cookies, always a Christmas Cookie recipe favorite. These cookies should be a little crunchy around the edge and soft and chewy in the middle. What makes Snickerdoodles different from Sugar Cookies you ask. Well, a well-made Snickerdoodle is rolled in a mixture of white sugar and cinnamon, and if you want a really good Snickerdoodle roll it in the sugar mixture twice. Why are they called Snickerdoodles and not Cinnamon Sugar Cookie? They have been around since the 1800’s they are probably German in origin and are a New England favorite cookie. So, enjoy yourself some Snickerdoodles and a nice cup of tea or coffee or milk or???? I just like to say Snickerdoodle.

Gooey Gingerbread Cookies

December 17 Gooey Gingerbread Cookies

Gooey Gingerbread Cookies!! December is the month for Gingerbread and if you have a taste for Gingerbread but don’t want to go to all the trouble of rolling, cutting, baking, and decorating Gingerbread Men. Then this recipe is for you. It does take a while to make it because the Chill time for the dough is 4 to 12 hours. That has got to be some relaxed dough!!! Anyway, the cookies look amazing and the smell, while they are baking, is so heartwarming and down-home feeling. You’re going to add these to your library of cookies recipes for every Christmas, I am sure.

Saltine Toffee Cookies

December 18 Saltine Toffee Cookies

Saltine Toffee Cookies for December 18th. This recipe really had me curious. I could not imagine Saltine Crackers being used in a cookie recipe. But, this cookie is crunchy, buttery, and somewhat addicting. You will find a delicious combination of sweet and salty. I love that combination. I always dump a box of Junior Mints in my popcorn when I go to the movies so I get that flavor combination; sweet and salty.

December 19 Candied Christmas Cookies

Candied Christmas Cookies are fruity and delicious and remind me of fruit cake. Growing up in Texas, one of my best memories of Christmas baking with my Mom is making the Fruit Cakes. I was going to buy one this year and could not believe the price of the fruit cake. Seems they have become somewhat of a gourmet item since I grew up.

December 20 White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

White Chocolate Peppermint Oatmeal Cookies that is really a mouthful to say. This is another favorite cookie for my family. Who does not love Oatmeal cookies and when you add the white chocolate and peppermint, Well now you have a really tasty cookie.

Seven-layer cookie bars are soft and chewy, and heavenly in your mouth cookie bars. A sweet combination of flavors and textures that are sure to please your pallet and make your mouth happy. Uniquely tasty just four days before Christmas!

December 22 Ultimate Ooey Gooey Brownies

Ultimate ooey gooey brownies with vanilla ice cream is one of, if not the best dessert I have ever had. I myself love brownies. My grandson Justin loves my brownies. When he was little he would always say that my brownies were the best. My brownies and my pancakes. He always wanted to know why. I told him I had a secret ingredient. One day he told me he figured out my secret ingredient. I asked what it was and he said it was ‘Love’. As a matter of fact, he was right!
