December 8: My Famous Brownies

My famous brownies! I have had this recipe in my recipe box longer than I have had my recipe box. In fact, I am on my third recipe box. According to my daughter, no one has a recipe box or cookbooks anymore. There is this thing called the Internet! Well, I do still have my recipe box and I still do have my recipe books. I go to the Internet for recipes but I still love looking over cookbooks to find delicious new recipes. But I am getting off point.

Today, December 8, according to my calendar is National Brownie Day! So today instead of a cookie recipe for the 25 days of Christmas Cookies I am going to share my famous brownie recipe. Why is it famous you ask? Because that is what my Grandson called it when he was little and he wanted brownies. He would ask me to make my famous brownies.

Ingredients

My famous brownies
  • 1/4 Cup of Butter
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp Cocoa
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla
  • 3/4 Flour
  • 4 Tbsp Milk

Mix My Famous Brownies

Cream the butter, salt, sugar together. Add the eggs, Vanilla, and Milk, then the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly.

Bake

Bake in a 325-degree oven until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean about 30 to 45 minutes.

Variations

This is a very basic brownie recipe. You can add 1 cup of nuts of your choice. I have also added York Peppermint Patties and pushed them into the batter just until they are covered before baking. Adding Caramels to the batter also makes a nice change. You can use your imagination to make a difference brownie each time you make them. We added crushed Candy Canes one year at Christmas. Sprinkles on top also make the pretty or you can add frosting. I think you get the idea.
